Inventory Management

Navision inventory management provides real-time information on a company's inventory. Users can define inventory items in an item master. For each item, users can select the appropriate costing method, set up price and cost tables, apply logic for automated re-ordering, and specify related items.

As items are including in transactions throughout the Navision system, e.g. purchasing, sales, manufacturing, service repairs, etc., inventory balances and costs are automatically reflected in the inventory management system. In one window, users can view the current balance as well as scheduled receipts, shipments, and manufacturing consumption. Alternatively, users can view the availability by time to see forecasted balances to ensure that there is a sufficient supply to meet future demand.

The automated re-ordering functionality goes beyond the basic reorder quantity. Companies can take advantage of special vendor pricing by setting economic re-order quantities and minimum order quantities. In addition, lead times can be added to the calculation to make sure that there is always a sufficient amount of a critical inventory item on hand.

Directly within the inventory management module, users can record item quantity adjustments due to damage or shrinkage. The physical inventory functionality supports periodic inventory counts, including the ability to freeze inventory using cycle counting.
