E-commerce - Other business Partners (EDI)
Increasingly, large companies are demanding
that suppliers communicate with them via electronic data
interchange (EDI). With Navision's EDI functionality, companies
can easily exchange data with both customers and suppliers.
When a user performs a transaction within Navision, for
example, creating a new purchase order, an electronic version
of the transaction is automatically transmitted to the appropriate
vendor. Likewise, if a customer transmits a purchase order,
it is automatically loaded into Navision as a sales order
ready to be approved and processed. No data entry is required!
Unlike traditional EDI programs that required
transactions to be transmitted via modem to a central clearing-house
(VAN) for processing, Navision's EDI functionality utilizes
a company's existing internet connetion to transmit electronic
transactions to its trading partners. Sophisticated security
and digital certificates ensure that all communications
are private.
Navision's EDI functionality supports both
standard and user-definable electronic file formats enabling
companies to communicate with virtually any business partner.
