Frequently Asked Questions
About choosing accounting, distribution,
or manufacturing software
1. Do I need a new system?
Here are some of the warning signs that your
current software gets in the way of your business:
- Increasing customer complaints about poor service
- Using multiple systems for the same task
- Failing to get accurate, up-to-date information for
decision-making
- Using handwritten notes because it's easier to jot
it down than use the current system
- Having to enter the same data into more than one system
- Inability to expand the business due to limitations
of current information system
- User complaints about the performance of the system
- Lost or corrupted data
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms,
you are a good candidate for a new information system.
2. Do I need to do a business analysis
before I decide which software to use?
API strongly recommends that you perform a
business analysis before selecting a new business system.
A formal business analysis provides two major benefits to
your organization.
First, the analysis identifies potential
areas of process improvement. As organizations grow, inefficient
processes and customer service pitfalls creep into the workflow.
A business analysis ensures that these problems are identified
and corrected to avoid being incorporated into a new system.
Second, a business analysis provides a framework
for evaluating a new business system. See the answer to
